Hi, I'm Claudia Cazares. I've been fortunate to be your Trustee since December 2016. The Hoover Neighborhood has been my home for 24 years and I wouldn't chose to live anywhere else.
As a little girl, growing up in the Salinas Valley, I always knew it would be my responsibility to give back to my community. Just how I did that has changed over the years.
While in school, I participated in sports, band, clubs, community service, and church. My education and childhood was full of people that guided me, mentored me, and held me to very high standards. Ms. Singer, my fifth grade teacher, pictured here, was one of those people that encouraged my learning and introduced me to advanced literature to challenge me. I am profoundly indebted to my teachers and professors for their educational leadership in my life.
My parents moved my sister and I to the Central Valley in the early 90's and they continued to expect hard work and determination from their daughters. Their backbreaking work in the fields and guidance for us payed off, as they saw both of us girls graduate from UC Berkeley.
Equipped now with my Business Degree, I came back to Fresno and started my nearly twenty-year career in Community and Housing Development. Being able to assist those in our community that are in need of help, those that can benefit from the basics such as clean water, walkable streets, or a roof over their heads, has been my life and career goal which I have been able to experience through my career.
Since 2016 though, my purpose has included being your Trustee on the School Board. As a parent of FUSD children, I have brought a prospective to the Board that is unique to our current system. I am proud to have been instrumental in huge advances for the District these last 8 years, and I know that as your community partner we can accomplish so much more. I therefore humbly request your vote this November 2024 for Fresno Unified School Board Trustee - Area 6 - Hoover Region.
